Homeschooling Resources
Here is a list of information that I have found useful.  It's so easy to get overwhelmed, I know I did.  So I compiled the "nuts & bolts" if you will.  Once you get past these then you can build on it and trust me there's TONS of information out there.  Check out my FAQ's, it's in need of more questions ;-}

Colorado's legal requirements are simple, straightforward and easy to comply with. The Rocky Mountain Education Connection website proved to be useful in explaining the legal requirements.

As for "Associations" or some call them "Umbrella Schools" they are not a requirement in the state of Colorado but if you like the idea of someone keeping track of your hours, transcripts, etc. then you may want to look into CHEC (Christian Home Educators of Colorado) since it is a very popular one, their annual conference is definitely worth attending. If you are desirous of something without a Christian undertone, unfortunately I am of no assistance.  I am sure that there are other umbrella schools out there, you can try the CO Homeschooling A-Z site for additional resources.

As for support groups, there's TONS!  Here's my advice.  If you choose to join a discussion forum such as our discussion forum or one of the multitude of Yahoo Groups available, don't be a lurker.  Lurkers are no fun so don't be one ;-}

Curriculum, multiple choices here people.  So many in fact you'll want to buy everything only to use one thing.  Check the FAQ's page for my advice on this. To the left are some curriculum providers of which some I can't wait to use myself.  The one thing I did find useful, especially as your children move into the higher grades is that many curriculum providers also provide "virtual academy" services. Definitely something worthwhile to look into.  Before I get critics sending me emails...yes, the links you see are for Christian-based curriculum, this is not an all-inclusive list.  If you do not maintain a Christian worldview and/or this is not a priority for you, fear not there are still many resources and choices for your family to consider.

I  attended the CHEC Family Conference in June 2008 - WOW! Thank God for friends!  I couldn't imagine being a first-timer at one of these events with out any help. There is one thing that I do but it's for my own sanity - I am somewhat of a planner. I just love spreadsheets!  Fear not I do not have every 15 minutes of my day accounted for.  I simply require a guideline of some sort. Some call it Excel I call it love ~ it works for me.

Check out the "Cool Homeschoolers", this area is designed for you Bloggers out there.  Send me your link and you may just see it listed.
